Waivered buprenorphine physicians who actively prescribe

Measurement Period: 2013
This indicator measures the proportion of Placer County physicians with a Drug Enforcement Agency waiver for buprenorphine who have prescribed at least one prescription for buprenorphine in one year. 

Why is this important?

Currently, about half of California physicians obtaining the waiver never use it to treat opioid addiction. Increasing numbers of waivered physicians issuing prescriptions are a sign of increasing access to opioid addiction treatment. Please visit Rx Drug Safety to learn more.
